Left home 06:30 for 80 mile drive to Belfast with traffic congestion for last 10 miles, for 09:10 appointment. Mr Mano called me from waiting room - twice by wrong name! Despite my weak legs, foot drop and balance problems - which I came to this hospital to get resolved, he said "but you can 'get around' now", suggesting I should maybe accept this as the 'new normal' for my age and be content with that. He said he'd never performed spinal surgery on any patient of my age.
