Mr Wail Ahmed

Mr Wail Ahmed is a Consultant in Spinal Injuries and Rehabilitation Medicine with over two decades of international clinical experience. He earned his medical degree (MBBS) from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Khartoum in Sudan in 2002, before pursuing a Master of Science in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Warwick, which he was awarded in 2013. He subsequently completed Higher Specialist Training in Spinal Cord Injuries Rehabilitation within the Oxford Deanery in 2017.

Mr Ahmed has developed specialist expertise in the complex medical and functional consequences of spinal cord injury. His clinical interests include advanced neuro-urodynamic assessment and urological interventions, with particular competence in video-urodynamic studies and flexible cystoscopy, including intravesical detrusor botulinum toxin injections. He also has experience in the surgical management of pressure ulcers in patients with spinal cord injuries, providing specialist care for complications that can significantly affect rehabilitation and quality of life.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Ahmed holds fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and the European Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. He serves as Lead Consultant at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) and as Clinical Directorate Co-Lead, contributing to the leadership and development of specialist spinal injury services. Alongside his clinical and research responsibilities, he is actively involved in the education and training of junior doctors and therapists, sharing his specialist knowledge and experience in spinal cord injury care to support the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
