Dr Vimal Vasu

Dr Vimal Vasu is an experienced Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician who specialises in the care of newborn infants and vulnerable babies. Working within neonatal intensive care settings, he provides expert medical assessment and compassionate support for premature infants and newborns facing complex health challenges. Dr Vasu is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to support the delicate health and long-term development of newborns.

His broad clinical expertise encompasses all aspects of neonatal medicine, including newborn intensive care, resuscitation, non-invasive ventilation, and the management of neonatal respiratory problems. Dr Vasu maintains special clinical interests in neonatal nutrition, growth assessment, body composition, and perinatal brain injury, including hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy. He also manages cases involving neonatal jaundice, kernicterus, and early-life infections, alongside maintaining an active role in clinical risk management, governance, and global child health initiatives.

Dr Vasu earned his Bachelor of Science in Neurosciences from the University of London in 1995, followed by his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with distinction in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of London in 1998. He completed a research-based Doctor of Medicine degree in Neonatal Medicine at the University of London in 2011, and later achieved a Master of Laws with distinction in Healthcare Law and Ethics from the University of Dundee in 2017. He became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2010. Additionally, Dr Vasu maintains professional memberships with the British Association of Perinatal Medicine, the Neonatal Society, the British Medical Association, and the Medical Protection Society.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Vasu serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer and engages in clinical research and educational training to advance medical knowledge in neonatology. He treats every family with empathy, clarity, and utmost professional care, ensuring parents are well-informed and fully supported throughout their child's treatment journey.
