About Dr Rohit Gowda

Dr Rohit Gowda is an established Consultant Paediatrician with specialist expertise in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, caring for children and young people from infancy through adolescence. He combines broad general paediatric experience with advanced training in childhood digestive disorders and currently provides private consultations through Nuffield Health Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

He trained in paediatrics across the West Midlands and undertook extensive specialist gastroenterology training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a major centre for paediatric liver disease and gastroenterology. He subsequently achieved RCPCH SPIN recognition in Paediatric Gastroenterology in 2013 and entered the specialist register with a CCT in Paediatrics in 2014.

Dr Gowda has considerable experience managing children with abdominal pain, reflux, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, feeding difficulties, poor appetite, faltering growth, weight loss and blood in the stool. His specialist practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, eosinophilic oesophagitis, gastritis, malabsorption and irritable bowel syndrome.

A key part of his specialist work is paediatric gastrointestinal investigation. He has advanced experience in performing and interpreting gastroscopy, colonoscopy, pH studies and other gastrointestinal investigations, and is an accredited trainer in paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells.

Alongside his gastroenterology practice, Dr Gowda continues to see children with a wide range of general paediatric conditions, including growth concerns, respiratory symptoms, asthma, eczema, rashes and other common childhood presentations. His private practice emphasises detailed, child-centred consultations with time for families to understand the diagnosis, investigation options and treatment plan. Dr Gowda is actively involved in paediatric research and has served as Principal Investigator for several local and national studies. His research involvement has included studies in childhood infectious disease, COVID-19, paediatric gastroenterology and gastrointestinal investigation.

Dr Gowda’s practice combines specialist gastroenterology expertise with a broad understanding of children’s overall health and development. His approach is particularly suited to families dealing with persistent digestive symptoms, feeding difficulties, growth concerns or complex gastrointestinal disease, with emphasis on careful assessment, appropriate investigation, clear explanations and a practical treatment plan.
