Mr Vijaykumar Devadoss

Mr Vijay Devadoss is a highly experienced orthopaedic and trauma surgeon who started his consultant carrer in Orthopaedics from 1999 at the Rochdale infirmary. He has been based at the BMI The Highfield Hospital since 2013.

With over 22 years of consultant experience, Mr Devadoss is proficient in both open and arthroscopic surgeries. His expertise includes complex upper limb and shoulder surgery. From 2013 he has been concentrating exclusively on the assessment and management of all non-trauma upper limb problems. This includes Injections and Arthroscopic surgery for rotator cuff repair, and elbow procedures such as tennis elbow release, ulnar nerve decompression, and transposition. He also manages wrist and hand problems. Injections and open surgery to treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's contracture, and trigger fingers. He also routinely perfomes Arthroscopic surgery for the shoulder and wrist.

Mr Devadoss received his MBBS and post-graduate qualification (Master of Surgery) in General Surgery from the Christian Medical College in India. After serving at the Christian Mission Hospital in India and the Sultan's Armed Forces in Muscat, Oman, he received his fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh before starting his furhter Orthopaedic training in the UK.

Following junior positions at several hospitals, Mr Devadoss then trained as a Registrar and Senior Registrar in Yorkshire region. He completed the Higher Specialist Fellowship in Orthopaedics FRCSEd (Tr&Orth) in 1998.

He began his consultant career the following year at Rochdale Infirmary and worked as General Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon dealing with a wide variety of porblems and all Trauma Elective procedures iincluding Hip, knee and shoudler Joint replacements.

He developed his special interest in upper limb arthroscopic surgery and has been concentrating solely in upper limb surgery from 2005. With over 22 years of consultant experience, Mr Devadoss is proficient in both open and arthroscopic surgeries. Mr Devadoss is currently an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the MRCS exams.

He also provides medico-legal reports and has been providing reports for Medical Negligence Claims for the previous 8 years.
