Dr Stephane Paulus

Dr Stephane Paulus is an accomplished Consultant Paediatrician who specialises in paediatric infectious diseases, immunology, and infection prevention. With a patient-focused approach, he provides expert care for infants, children, and young people experiencing complex or severe infectious conditions. Dr Paulus works collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver tailored diagnostic assessments and comprehensive management plans, ensuring young patients receive reassuring, compassionate care alongside evidence-based medical treatment.

His clinical interests encompass a wide range of childhood illnesses, including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Dr Paulus possesses extensive expertise in managing severe conditions such as paediatric sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, and bone and joint infections, as well as tuberculosis and congenital infections. Additionally, he focuses on paediatric antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, vaccine-preventable diseases, and the clinical evaluation of diagnostic biomarkers to optimise antibiotic use and enhance treatment outcomes for children with acute or recurrent infections.

Dr Paulus earned his medical degree (MD) from the University of Louvain in Belgium. He subsequently completed post-graduate specialist training in Paediatrics across the United States and the United Kingdom, followed by an advanced clinical fellowship in Paediatric Infectious Diseases in Vancouver, Canada. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH). He also holds academic leadership roles as a Senior Lecturer in paediatric infectious diseases and has served in national executive positions, including Convenor and Secretary, for the British Paediatric Allergy, Immunity and Infection Group (BPAIIG).
