Dr Shoneen Abbas

Dr Shoneen Abbas is a highly dedicated Consultant specialising in Critical Care and Acute Medicine, fields closely aligned with General (Internal) Medicine. With a profound commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence, she focuses on the management of acutely unwell patients. As a Consultant, Dr Abbas is known for her reassuring and professional approach, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during critical times.

Throughout her career, Dr Abbas has developed a strong passion for strengthening the links between Acute Medicine and Critical Care. Her clinical interests include serving as the Acute Medical Link to the Acute Oncology Services, where she helps coordinate care for complex cases. Additionally, she is actively involved in clinical quality and patient safety, serving as a Medical Representative on quality forums to continuously improve healthcare delivery.

Dr Abbas qualified from medical school in Manchester in 2005, obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB). She has since achieved several prestigious postgraduate qualifications, including Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) in Acute Medicine and Fellowship of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM). She is also a trained Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor and an Ill Medical Patients' Acute Care and Treatment (IMPACT) Instructor, regularly teaching these vital skills to other healthcare professionals.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Abbas is deeply committed to medical education. She has co-authored a multiple-choice question book for intensive care examinations and has developed online e-learning packages for final-year medical students, specifically focusing on modules for acutely unwell patients. Her dedication to training the next generation of Doctors ensures that high standards of acute and critical care are maintained across the medical community.
