Dr. Shahida Ahmed

Dr. Shahida Ahmed is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in paediatric diabetes and endocrinology. She provides comprehensive, high-quality care for children from birth up to the age of sixteen. Known for her exceptional listening skills and compassionate approach, Dr. Ahmed is committed to delivering holistic, professional, and up-to-date medical care that supports both her young patients and their families.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Ahmed manages a wide range of general paediatric and endocrine conditions. Her areas of expertise include paediatric growth and puberty-related issues, such as short and tall stature, early and delayed puberty, and thyroid or other hormonal disorders. She is also highly experienced in managing childhood diabetes. Additionally, she regularly assesses and treats common childhood conditions, including asthma, eczema, allergies, abdominal pain, constipation, chest pain, musculoskeletal issues, headaches, and abnormal movements.

Dr. Ahmed completed her medical degree (MBBS) and went on to undertake extensive specialist training across several prestigious NHS hospitals, including leading children's hospitals and teaching hospitals in London and the South East. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Endocrinology and Diabetes with distinction in 2014, and obtained her Paediatric Diabetes Special Interest Module qualification in 2016. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). She also maintains active membership with the British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ahmed has demonstrated outstanding clinical leadership. She has led a paediatric diabetes service to achieve national recognition for its excellent clinical outcomes, and her innovative work has been honoured with the prestigious RCPCH National Clinical Excellence Award. Beyond her clinical duties, she is deeply involved in medical education, serving as an Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, and Appraiser. She actively teaches medical students and conducts paediatric resuscitation training, while also contributing to the wider medical community through research publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
