Dr Rooshi Nathwani

Dr. Rooshi Nathwani is a Consultant Hepatologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London, where he brings extensive expertise across hepatology, gastroenterology, and general internal medicine. He completed his specialist training in the North-West London Deanery, followed by advanced hepatology training at both the Royal Free Hospital and Imperial College London Hospitals. He now serves as the Clinical Lead for Hepatology Early Detection Pathways at the Royal Free, overseeing initiatives that improve earlier diagnosis and intervention for liver disease.

Dr. Nathwani manages the full spectrum of liver conditions, including abnormal liver function tests, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, and alcohol-related liver disease. He has particular expertise in liver cirrhosis, including decompensated cirrhosis and portal hypertension, as well as rare and complex liver disorders. His specialist interests also include the early detection of liver damage, an area in which he has played a leading role at his institution. Clinically, he is highly skilled in Fibroscan assessment and performs both diagnostic and therapeutic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Nathwani is deeply committed to advancing the field through research and education. He completed his PhD at Imperial College London, contributing to a substantial body of peer-reviewed work on liver disease. He remains active in clinical research and regularly teaches, organizes training programmes, and delivers lectures at respected national hepatology courses.
