Dr Richard Toshner

Dr Richard Toshner is a dedicated Consultant Respiratory Physician who offers comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients experiencing a wide range of chest and lung conditions. He is committed to delivering holistic and reassuring care, helping individuals navigate complex respiratory symptoms such as persistent coughing or unexplained shortness of breath. Working collaboratively across medical disciplines, Dr Toshner ensures that each patient receives an accurate diagnosis and a clear management plan tailored to their specific healthcare needs.

Within clinical practice, Dr Toshner holds sub-specialty expertise in interstitial lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and the evaluation of lung nodules. He also routinely diagnoses and manages common respiratory illnesses, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and sleep apnoea. To support precise diagnostic evaluation, he regularly performs interventional chest procedures such as bronchoscopy and pleural interventions, while also possessing significant expertise in managing long-term post-viral respiratory health conditions.

Dr Toshner earned his primary medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2008. He subsequently undertook postgraduate specialist training in respiratory and general internal medicine, attaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2012. He further advanced his academic and clinical expertise by completing a PhD in 2019, focusing his doctoral research on airway cellular mechanisms in pulmonary fibrosis. Dr Toshner is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of London and maintains an active role in ongoing clinical research and medical education.
