Dr Aimée Brame is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with specialist training in Respiratory Medicine, General Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. She has particular expertise in the assessment of unexplained breathlessness, pulmonary vascular disease and pulmonary hypertension, as well as complex respiratory symptoms where the diagnosis is not immediately clear.
She works within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Brompton Hospital, with roles spanning respiratory medicine, pulmonary hypertension and intensive care. She also sees private patients at London Bridge Hospital.
Dr Brame undertook her medical degree at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2001, before completing postgraduate training in Respiratory and General Medicine in the North West Thames region. She subsequently undertook specialist training in Intensive Care Medicine in London and holds the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) and Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
She also holds a PhD in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics from the University of Cambridge and has an active academic background. Her research has included the study of haemodynamics and cardiovascular and respiratory physiology across a range of clinical conditions. She has contributed to clinical studies, authored book chapters and published original research papers and abstracts.
In private practice, Dr Brame sees patients with a broad range of respiratory problems, including persistent or unexplained breathlessness, chronic cough, airway symptoms, pulmonary hypertension and other pulmonary vascular conditions, sleep-related respiratory problems, Long COVID and post-viral symptoms. She also provides diagnostic second opinions for patients with complex symptoms or where previous investigations have not provided a clear explanation.
Dr Brame has particular experience in the investigation of breathlessness and exercise intolerance, including the use and interpretation of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) where appropriate. Her approach is to bring together symptoms, imaging, lung function, cardiovascular assessment and exercise physiology to understand why a patient is breathless and to develop an individual management plan.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Brame provided acute intensive care to patients with severe COVID-19 and subsequently became extensively involved in the assessment and management of patients with persistent symptoms following infection. She continues to see patients with Long COVID and post-viral syndromes, with an emphasis on careful diagnosis, identifying treatable contributors to symptoms and developing a practical management and recovery plan.
Her consultations are particularly suited to patients with complex or persistent respiratory symptoms, those seeking a second opinion, or those who would benefit from a detailed review of previous investigations and a clearer diagnostic plan.

Dr Brame took the time to answer any and all questions i had, and to provide a wider perspective on my ailments
I met with Dr Brame on Friday, 17 April as I had been experiencing pain in my chest and I am a smoker so this is concerning for me. We spoke through my history and symptoms and Dr Brame made some observations. We spoke about my concerns and she explained what further tests she thought I should have and why (which is very important to me). She explained to me, in detail, a condition I have had for some while. She was calm, very kind and made me feel at ease and gave me time. I am very grateful for her time and would recommend Dr Brame as she is marvellous. This was a very positive experience for me. Thank you so much, Dr Brame!
Dr Aimee, explained my symptoms and results from my CT scan and other test very nicely, and it was clear in my action plane for medication and healthy lifestyle.

PsychologistI have no hesitation in recommending Dr Brame, who is a colleague of mine at London Bridge Hospital. We've shared many patients over recent years and patients I refer on routinely comment on her impressive attention to detail and empathic approach. Moreover, I've found Dr Brame's input and communication both thoughtful and comprehensive for patients with complex respiratory problems. I look forward to sharing more patients with Dr Brame in the future.
