Richard Stevenson is an expert in colonoscopy, coloproctology and hernia surgery. He has been published in specialist colorectal journals and continually delivers best-practice care in his field. Richard qualified from the University of Aberdeen in 2006 before moving to the West of Scotland where he commenced his training in General Surgery.

He was awarded a prestigious Research Fellowship from Cancer Research UK at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research investigating the malignant transformation of colitic cells in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. This led to the award of PhD

from the University of Glasgow in 2014.

He completed his advanced higher surgical training and was appointed Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and appointed Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Glasgow in recognition of his ongoing collaborative research work.

He has been awarded numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, has published a book and 37 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has presented his work at 20 International & National meetings and has gained Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers in recognition of his commitment to training.
