Dr Rhys Jones

Dr Rhys Jones is a dedicated Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon and General Surgeon who provides expert surgical care for patients with complex digestive and abdominal conditions. With a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, he utilises modern surgical techniques to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. His practice covers both elective procedures and emergency general surgical interventions.

In his clinical practice, Dr Jones specialises in the surgical management of oesophageal and gastric cancers, alongside complex benign upper gastrointestinal conditions. His areas of expertise encompass minimally invasive surgery, anti-reflux procedures, hiatal hernia repair, management of gallstone disease, splenic surgery, and trauma surgery. Dr Jones focuses on tailored treatment strategies designed to minimise surgical impact and facilitate efficient recovery.

Dr Jones earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Newcastle University, where he also completed a Master of Research (MRes) focusing on gastrointestinal disease. He completed his higher surgical training in the North of England, during which he undertook dedicated research leading to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and completed an advanced Upper Gastrointestinal Fellowship in Australia.
