About Mr Siddek Isreb

I am an Upper GI bariatric surgeon, with interest in general surgery of childhood, at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. I have finished my surgical training at NHS England Education North East and have gained the CCT certificate in October 2021. Following a post CCT robotic/bariatric fellowship at Reading, I was appointed at my North Tees permanent consultant post in September 2022.

I had training and speciality registration in two countries and My NHS practice includes wide variety of open, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures for adults and children.

I have completed a large design-based research project to create an online training course to teach surgeons to safely remove the gallbladder in keyhole surgery and focussed on other aspects of training and patient safety in theatre. I completed my PhD degree successfully in 2017. I also have multiple publications in high impact journals, including a leading article in the BJS. My research gained the first place in the bright idea award 2011.

Along with my clinical experience I have had a vast experience in education throughout my career including supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and have completed a diploma and PhD in medical education (surgical skills assessment and training). I am also a member in Newcastle university medical school assessment with an Honorary Clinical senior Lecturer status at Newcastle University. I am a Basic Surgical Skills trainer at the Royal College of Surgeons of London. I am also a Member of Faculty of surgical trainer at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, MFSTEd and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Mr Isreb has been wonderful throughout all of my sons hospital clinic visits to him. No parent wants to see their child to have to undergo surgery and Mr Isreb's experience and knowledge has ensured that we have avoided this scenario. His advice and recommendations on how best to manage my sons condition has been invaluable. My son was naturally very concerned and anxious about the possibility of needing surgical intervention but Mr Isreb reassured him and I that this could be avoided, making my sons experience less daunting each time we came back for a review. Mr Isreb has been very patient with me as a parent, reassuring me at each clinic appointment and I am very grateful to him for the care we have recieved. Thank you!

Dr Siddek Isreb has been nothing but amazing with me. Right from being prepared for the operation to my follow up today, he was kind, caring, considerate, supportive, but he was also reassuring that im doing ok and everything is on the right track. His bed side manner is second to none and he really did put me at ease on operation day, I felt like I was in amazing hands, especially with it being my first operation
