His career in the UK's healthcare system began in 2005 when he joined the NHS as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He later completed his Spinal fellowship at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool. Throughout his career, Mr. Hussain has worked in some of the UK's leading teaching hospitals.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Hussain is a dedicated educator, recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) as a trainer and serving as a faculty member at the University of Warwick Medical School. Within the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), where he has held his current position for over six years, he is the Departmental Lead for Morbidity and Mortality.
Mr. Hussain has earned prestigious awards and nominations, including the World Class Colleague Award in 2021 and nominations for Outstanding Service and Care Awards (OSCA). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS SN) and holds memberships in various medical societies, including the Society for Research in Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida, the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS), the World Spine Column Society, the World Hydrocephalus Society, and the British Medical Association (BMA).

Mr Hussain was great at explaining what was wrong, why it needed attention and how things would proceed. It was a scary procedure for me but Mr Hussain was calm and patient with myself and always allowed me time to ask questions without feeling rushed.

Mr Hussain is a true professional. The process from start to finish was exceptional, well explained, and executed. From not being able to walk 10 meters and in a wheel chair to being able to walk normally within 2 weeks is remarkable.

Mr Rahim was polite, courteous, professional and allowed me to go through my issues at my own pace….at no time did I feel rushed and he took time to explain my x-rays in detail and in layman terms which were easily understood and clear to me. The follow-on appointments I needed with 2nd parties were very effectively arranged (MRI within 1 day, nerve test within 2 weeks) by his team. The follow up appointment with Mr Hussain was arranged before my nerve test, resulting in 2 appointments and 2 investigative appointments being done in a matter of weeks! I am very happy with service received and can thoroughly recommend him. R.F
