Dr Rachel Weerasinghe

Dr Rachel Weerasinghe is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician who specialises in paediatric care and community child health. She focuses on promoting the physical health, development, and overall well-being of infants, children, and young people. Taking a compassionate and family-centred approach, Dr Weerasinghe works collaboratively with parents and carers to deliver clear, supportive guidance and individualised clinical care tailored to every child's unique needs.

Her clinical work spans general and community paediatrics, with specific clinical interest in community child health, child protection, and safeguarding evaluations. Dr Weerasinghe is involved in managing acute and long-term paediatric conditions, including paediatric infections such as urinary tract infections, child health monitoring, and developmental assessments. She works closely alongside multidisciplinary teams, including specialists, allied health professionals, and nursing staff, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for young patients.

Dr Weerasinghe completed higher specialist training in Paediatrics, with sub-specialty higher training in Community Child Health. She is affiliated with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is an active member of the Child Protection Special Interest Group. She also serves as a regional coordinator for the British Association for Community Child Health, actively contributing to medical education, clinical governance, and training initiatives designed to elevate standards in child healthcare.
