Miss Rachel O'Connell is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden, specialising in the rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of breast-related symptoms. With a focus on both benign and malignant breast lesions, she employs oncoplastic breast surgery techniques to achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes following treatment. Rachel collaborates closely with plastic surgeons at The Royal Marsden to offer a comprehensive range of reconstructive options to her patients. Committed to holistic patient care, she works in tandem with oncology colleagues to ensure the highest standard of treatment.

Rachel earned her medical degree from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2007. She underwent surgical training in the London Deanery and pursued a research degree funded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England at The Royal Marsden/Institute of Cancer Research. Her research focused on enhancing cosmetic outcomes post-breast cancer surgery. Subsequently, she completed an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship at The Royal Marsden in 2020/2021.

With a dedication to advancing surgical outcomes in breast cancer, Rachel has contributed extensively to research, publishing over 40 peer-reviewed articles and presenting her work internationally. Her research efforts have gained national and international recognition, earning her prestigious prizes in the field.
