Mr Thomas is one of the first surgeons in the United Kingdom to complete both Masters in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (Europes highest qualification in Oncoplastic breast surgery) and the prestigious national TIG oncoplastic fellowship. Mr Thomas specialises exclusively in breast surgery- investigating and managing breast symptoms and managing breast cancer. He is the lead surgeon at Southend University Hospital NHS Trust.

He is active in research and teaching. His main research interest is in using ultrasound during breast surgery to improve patient outcomes. He is involved in training other breast surgeons and has been award the position of Hon Senior Lecturer at University of East Anglia in recognition of his teaching contributions.

He enjoys badminton and chess and resides in Leigh-On-Sea with his wife and two children.
