We had a very pleasant experience and Professor Iain Bruce was very professional, helpful and clear throughout the entire process.

We had concerns about our son holding his breath whilst sleeping (sleep apnoea) and initially tried to secure an appointment with an NHS specialist. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a confirmed waiting time, although we understood it could be around three years. We therefore decided to explore the privately funded route. After researching ENT consultants, Professor Bruce’s experience, credentials and profile stood head and shoulders above anyone else in the North West. We were fortunate enough to secure an appointment within just two weeks, which was a huge relief for us as a family. At our first consultation, Professor Bruce carried out a thorough examination of our son and asked us to film him whilst sleeping so that he could make a more accurate diagnosis. We returned to his clinic around a week later, where he carefully explained his findings and outlined a proposed treatment plan. What we particularly admired was his honest, no-pressure approach. He explained that, based on what he had seen, grommets were not necessary. This gave us enormous confidence that his recommendations were based entirely on what was best for our son. Within 12 weeks, our son was booked in for surgery. On the day, Professor Bruce’s calm and reassuring manner immediately put both my wife and me at ease. Following our daughter’s third surgery with Professor Ian Bruce, we wanted to share how grateful we are to have had him looking after her. My son recently had his tonsils and adenoids taken out by Professor Bruce and he was amazing from start to finish. We felt in safe, knowledgeable hands the entire time. Professor Bruce has been amazing with our daughter. We were at a loss as to what was causing her issues with speech and walking. We’d been to numerous different people to investigate but couldn’t find the cause. Professor Bruce investigated and diagnosed the problem and then promptly fixed it through surgery. He is very professional and balances perfectly between communicating with parents and children. My daughter was very calm and happy throughout her visits to the hospital and we were well informed and able to make the best choices for our family. We can’t thank him enough for helping us.
