Mr Pravin Pandey

Mr. Pravin Pandey, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Glaucoma, and Cataract Surgeon at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, is a highly experienced specialist with over a decade of advanced training in ophthalmology. Since 2015, he has served as a full-time consultant, providing care for complex glaucoma cases, with tertiary referrals from across the East and West Midlands and beyond. Mr. Pandey leads one of the country’s largest complex glaucoma and MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) practices, offering tailored surgical strategies to meet individual patient needs.

Mr. Pandey is also the head of the virtual glaucoma service at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, previously holding the role of Designated Individual for the Human Tissue Authority to oversee the safety of transplant procedures. A passionate educator, he serves as a Royal College of Ophthalmologists tutor, trains subspecialist glaucoma surgeons, and leads simulation training for surgical trainees in the West Midlands. He is an advanced trainer in glaucoma surgery techniques and has taught on angle closure, trabeculectomy, and iStent Masterclasses, contributing to the development of future specialists in these procedures.

With research interests in novel drug delivery for glaucoma and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, Mr. Pandey is a principal investigator in a major international drug trial. His charitable work includes volunteering as a surgeon in Cambodia with Khmer Sight and working with the Orbis “Flying Eye Hospital” in Uganda, where he trained local ophthalmologists and treated patients in a fully equipped airborne hospital.
