Dr Paul Jenkins is an accomplished Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who provides comprehensive clinical care for patients experiencing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and traumatic injuries. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care, Dr Jenkins focuses on relieving pain, restoring physical function, and improving quality of life for individuals affected by acute physical trauma or chronic upper limb disorders. His clinical practice encompasses emergency trauma management alongside specialised elective upper limb surgery.
Dr Jenkins earned his undergraduate medical degree, MBChB with Honours, from the University of Edinburgh in 2003. He subsequently completed basic and higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics within the South-East of Scotland. To further refine his clinical focus, he completed advanced specialist fellowship training in upper limb surgery, with particular expertise in conditions and complex trauma affecting the elbow. In addition to his surgical qualifications, Dr Jenkins completed a postgraduate research doctorate (MD) at the University of Edinburgh in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd in Trauma and Orthopaedics) and a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (MFSTEd).
With extensive clinical experience, Dr Jenkins diagnoses and treats both elective and traumatic conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist. His practice includes the surgical and non-surgical management of upper limb neuropathies, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome. Within general orthopaedic trauma care, Dr Jenkins manages a broad range of acute injuries, including neck and back trauma such as whiplash-type injuries.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr Jenkins is actively involved in surgical education, clinical leadership, and academic research. Holding an academic appointment as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor, he contributes significantly to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He has published extensive peer-reviewed research in orthopaedic surgery and trauma outcomes. Additionally, Dr Jenkins possesses expertise in medicolegal evaluation, serving as an independent expert witness in personal injury and clinical negligence matters.
