Mr Nimesh Patel is a highly skilled and fellowship trained specialist trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on hip and knee surgeries. He has extensive expertise in various aspects of hip and knee surgery, including trauma, arthritis, joint preservation, and revision arthroplasty. Mr. Patel completed his specialist training on the South West England rotation and went on to pursue advanced fellowships to further enhance his surgical skills.
He completed the prestigious Ling Hip Fellowship in Exeter, UK, which provided specialised training in hip surgery. Additionally, he completed a complex knee fellowship at Guy's Hospital in London, UK, further honing his skills in knee surgery. Mr Patel also undertook travelling trauma fellowships at renowned medical institutions in the United States, including the Shock Trauma Centre in Baltimore and Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard) in Boston, where he gained valuable experience in managing trauma cases.
Mr Patel is committed to improving precision and outcomes in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery, and he actively collaborates with the charity Versus Arthritis as an 'MSK champion' to advocate for patients suffering from pain and musculoskeletal conditions.
His clinical interests include total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, knee arthroscopy, and orthopaedic trauma. He currently holds a position at East Kent University Foundation NHS Trust.
Mr Patel earned his medical qualification from Imperial College London in 2008 and is a member of various professional organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Association for Surgery of the Knee, and British Hip Society.
