Mr Patel, was very kind and listened to me regarding my health and disabilities. He put my mind at ease regarding my care plan going forward.
Mr Patel was welcoming, polite and informative, pleased to see the progress I'd made in such a short time
A talented and engaging specialist. He's done both hips now, shame I may not meet him again.
Overall, there have been many aspects of my care that have been exceptional, but I do feel there are areas where patients can become a little lost between departments. It took a long time for me to finally receive treatment for my knee. However, once I was under the care of Spire and had my procedure, the experience was extremely professional. From arriving at the hospital through to the procedure itself, I would rate the care 10/10. My main concern is the aftercare. I only saw the surgeon very briefly afterwards, for around a minute, and I would have appreciated more feedback about the operation, what was found, what had been done and what I should expect during recovery. I also feel that aftercare and checks relating to other existing conditions could be better coordinated. For example, I have a history that puts me at increased risk of blood clots. While the care relating specifically to my knee has been exceptional, when it comes to concerns outside that particular department, such as blood clots, I have felt a little lost and unsure who is responsible for monitoring or advising me. Communication regarding medication before the operation was very good, and I have also been impressed with how quickly physiotherapy and my follow-up appointment have been arranged. Overall, the standard of care within the individual department has been excellent. My main suggestion would be better joined-up aftercare for patients who have additional medical considerations, so they have clearer guidance about what is normal, what requires attention and who they should contact if they ar...
