Mr Nikhil Vijay Kulkarni

Mr Nikhil Vijay Kulkarni is a highly qualified Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon. He qualified in 1998 in India. After undergoing surgical training there, he came to the UK in 2003. He has undertaken training in East Midlands, Wales, Scotland and Leeds. Mr Kulkarni undertakes most of his major colorectal resections with the laparoscopic approach and is in the process of adopting newer techniques, like the robotic approach.

Mr Kulkarni has a keen interest in teaching. He is the colorectal surgery speciality lead for undergraduate trainees. He has also organised CME events at the hospital. In addition to this, he has numerous publications in international journals.

Mr Kulkarni undertook a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at St James Hospital in Leeds. He is the audit lead of the surgical department and steered multi-centre large studies during the COVID pandemic.
