Dhanwant Gomez is a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and General Surgeon at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also an Honorary Professor of HPB Surgical Sciences at the University of Nottingham.
He has significant expertise in day-case laparoscopic procedures such as gallbladder removal and hernia repair as well as complex liver and pancreas surgery. He prides himself as having a personal approach to his patients and has good clinical outcomes.
At present, he is the clinical lead for Neuroendocrine Tumors and the Honorary Secretary of the Great Britain and Ireland HPB Association (GBIHPBA). Previously, he was the HPB Cancer and Governance Lead, as well as the lead for the East Midlands HPB Expert Committee Advisory Group and East Midlands representative for the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO).
He graduated from Leeds University School of Medicine in 2002 and gained fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011. He earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) for his research on liver regeneration. His HPB experience includes training at Leeds, Nottingham and Liverpool.
Besides training of junior surgeons, he is actively involved in liver and pancreas cancer research and innovation of medical devices in surgery. He has published extensively on HPB surgery and involved in national and international clinical studies and is invited regularly to speak at scientific conferences.

Professor Gomez was very friendly and efficient. He examined me thoroughly and then explained the options available. He then outlined the surgical procedure involved. He answered all of our questions and it was a very comprehensive consultation.
