Dr Alabraba obtained his medical degree from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1999. He then completed his junior doctor training in centres across the West Midlands. He was later awarded a research grant by the UK Medical Research Council and completed a research project at the University of Birmingham Medical School surrounding immune cells in liver inflammation. He was awarded a PhD for his prestigious research work. He then completed his surgical training alongside another research project funded by the NIHR.
After completing his surgical training, Dr Alabraba was registered as a Specialist in General Surgery by the General Medical Council and received his Certificate of Completion of Training. He completed a fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Queen Medical Centre and soon after began his role as a Consultant in General & Hepatobiliary Surgery.
Dr Alabraba has special interests in the management of both acute and chronic pancreatitis and neuroendocrine tumours. He has expertise in liver and pancreas surgery, as well as gallbladder surgery, including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr Alabraba is the Governance Lead for Emergency General Surgery, the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit at Queen Medical Centre Nottingham, as well as the local Principal Investigator for the UK Multicentre Sunflower clinical trial investigating gallstone management.

Dr Alabraba took the time to explain everything about my surgery to me. Gave time for me to ask questions and made me feel at ease.

From our first consultation, Dr.Alabraba was very pleasant, polite and explained the procedure in a professional, but easy to understand manner. I felt confident that I would be in good hands and he put my mind at ease. After the operation he popped by the room to see if I was happy and whether I had any further questions. Dr Alabraba was my surgeon for my Whipple Procedure in 2021 and inguinal hernia repair in 2023. He is a warm and caring person, and his bedside manner is impeccable. He made me feel at ease about everything, especially my Whipple Procedure which is a major operation, and I felt that he always had my interests at heart. If would (and have) trust this man with my life.

Explained everything well so I could understand and everything ran smoothly to plan. Received follow up appointment exactly when stated and reassured me if needed I would be able to contact him through my GP.

Dr Alabraba was most courteous, kind, and competent throughout my stay. He explained very carefully what the procedure was, and any possible complications involved. Any questions I had were answered promptly and fully. I felt very well informed and very safe under his watch. I would like to state here, my grateful thanks to him for his exceptional kindness and expertise and for putting me at ease at a very anxious time.

Dr Alabraba was very clear explaining the procedure in the initial consultation and on the day, both prior and after the surgery. Dr Alabraba called personally to check on my progress on the days following the surgery, which was much appreciated. Dr Alabraba has a very friendly and approachable manner and my overall experience was excellent.

My experience was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Mr Alabraba was highly professional with a very pleasing manner during both face to face and phone contact. Mr Alabraba asked pertinent questions during my first appointment and took time to explain the procedure involved in my upcoming surgery. He also provided me with advice and guidance on how to best recover from the operation. I received a follow up phone call as promised with assurance that I could contact at any time should I have any issues at all or require any further help in the future. I cannot fault the service Mr Alabraba provided and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

The whole experience was excellent from the hospital, to the nurses and the surgeon who was fantastic. Every one put us at ease, couldn’t praise them enough
