About Mr Iain Cameron
Mr Iain Cameron is a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with a specialist interest in laparoscopic and open surgery for abdominal hernias. His major clinical interests include the management of inguinal, femoral, epigastric and umbilical hernias, plus the management of gallstone disease. He practises privately at The Nottingham Spire Hospital and the Park Hospital which is part of Circle Healthcare.
He undertook specialist training in biliary and laparoscopic surgery as a Visiting Lecturer at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong and completed a post-CCT fellowship on the Liver Unit in Leeds. He has published extensively on many aspects of laparoscopic and biliary surgery and remains actively involved in research and service development.
Mr Cameron has 22 years of consultant experience and has held both local management roles (Clinical Lead for HPB Surgery at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust) and national leadership roles (recently President of the Association of Upper GI Surgery). He runs the outreach HPB services in Derbyshire and has recently led the UK Safe Cholecystectomy group, helping to set up the national bile duct injury registry.
He has previously led the development of day-case laparoscopic services and has held additional positions as a national cancer peer reviewer, as audit lead on Council of the Great Britain and Ireland HPB Association (GBIHPBA) and has been an examiner and question writer for the Intercolegiate exam board for the last 15 years.

Mr Cameron is simply incredible ! I was under his care for just over a year for a complicated gallbladder removal. I was very nervous about the operation and other procedures but Mr Cameroon made me feel completely at ease. He answered all of mine and my husband’s questions in great detail, and I had a lot of questions! My gallbladder operation went extremely well and due to Mr Cameron’s expertise he was able to do keyhole surgery rather than having to convert. My family and myself will be forever grateful to Mr Cameron and his team. He is a fantastic surgeon and an amazing person who is incredibly good at his job. I can’t recommend him enough. Thank you for everything Mr Cameron.
The whole experience was faultless from start to finish. I am quite a nervous patient but felt very safe and reassured throughout.
