Mr Nicholas James Ward

Mr Nicholas James Ward is a dedicated Consultant General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon who provides high-quality clinical care for patients experiencing a wide range of abdominal and digestive health concerns. In his clinical practice, Mr Ward specialises in lower gastrointestinal surgery and the management of benign and malignant bowel conditions. His areas of expertise include coloproctological disorders such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, diverticular disease, pilonidal sinus disease, rectal bleeding, rectal prolapse, and altered bowel habits. Additionally, he routinely performs advanced colonoscopy procedures, diagnostic evaluations for colorectal cancer, and investigations for unexplained abdominal pain. As an experienced Consultant General Surgeon, Mr Ward also provides expert management for abdominal wall and groin hernias, including inguinal, femoral, umbilical, paraumbilical, and incisional hernias, utilising both laparoscopic techniques and local anaesthetic repair options.

Mr Ward completed his undergraduate medical studies at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School, graduating in 1999. Following his core surgical training, he completed dedicated postgraduate research into colorectal cancer proteomics, earning a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Essex in 2009. He attained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in General Surgery in 2013.
