M Timothy Justin, is a skilled Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at St Edmund's Hospital with over 30 years of experience. He completed his medical degree at The London Hospital Medical College in 1988 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1992.
Having transitioned to the Academic Department of Surgery at the University of Nottingham, Mr Justin's research focused on the effects of the gastrin hormone in gastric and colorectal cancer. His work also involved conducting trials with novel agents for the treatment of these cancers. He published his thesis in 1995 and was awarded his DM from the University of Nottingham in the same year.
Mr Justin completed his specialist training in Nottingham Hospitals and Sheffield, Mr Justin assumed the role of a consultant at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds in 2000. In 2016, he shifted to a full-time position as an independent surgical consultant at the BMI St Edmunds Hospital. Operating in both private practice and with NHS patients, he addresses a diverse range of general and gastrointestinal pathology, placing a particular emphasis on GI endoscopic investigation.
Mr Justin has clinical interests in laparoscopic surgery, colonoscopy, transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS), PPH for haemorrhoids (piles) and Bard Polysoft inguinal preperitoneal hernia patch.
Beyond his clinical practice, Mr Justin holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Cambridge and has served as a tutor for the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine.

Fantastic consultant, made me feel at ease , explained everything thoroughly and very pleased with the end result.

I can’t thank Mr Justin enough for his professional manner and full explanation of the many questions I had, prior to my gall bladder removal two weeks ago. He reassured me on every point and confirmed that, within two weeks of the operation, essentially I would be back to normal and indeed I am. It is a big decision to make, but made easier with key hole surgery and the right surgeon. I would recommend Mr Justin unequivocally.

Timothy was simply excellent throughout. I was offered a date for surgery to take place only a few weeks after my initial consultation. Everything was explained to me at every stage and I couldn’t be happier with my outcome. Highly recommended.

Straight to the point, answered all questions that I had fully and in a straightforward manner. The operation was successful and I am recovering quicker than I thought possibly due to a smallest incision required to perform the hernia operation.

Good explanation of procedure prior to operation. A no nonsense approach on the day of surgery with clear explanation of what would happen and when.
