Dr Neil Brierley

Dr Neil Brierley is a highly skilled Consultant Cleft and Plastic Surgeon who specialises in paediatric plastic surgery and reconstructive procedures. With a dedicated focus on improving the lives of children, he has developed extensive expertise in cleft lip and palate surgery, craniofacial anomalies, and facial plastic surgery. His clinical practice is characterised by a compassionate, patient-centred approach, ensuring that young patients and their families receive the highest standard of care throughout their treatment journey.

Prior to his current consultant appointment, Dr Brierley completed rigorous higher training in Plastic Surgery within the Yorkshire and Northern deaneries. He further refined his skills through an advanced fellowship in cleft lip and palate surgery, as well as a national Training Interface Group fellowship. Dr Brierley is also deeply committed to global health and humanitarian work; he has served as an international Regan Fellow with Operation Smile and has volunteered his surgical expertise to treat children in resource-poor settings across Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Guatemala, and Uganda.

Dr Brierley completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Leeds, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in 2006. He went on to achieve Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010 and subsequently obtained the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery. He is an active contributor to clinical research and education, helping to train the next generation of cleft and plastic surgeons.
