About Ms Sonia Chachan
Ms Sonia Chachan is a Consultant Gynaecologist. She practices privately at the Spire, manchester and for the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital.
She first trained in India, at the University of Calcutta, and underwent further specialist training in the United Kingdom. She has a wide general scope within gynaecology, and holds a lead role for hysteroscopy and colposcopy within the department at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Ms Chachan's special clinical interests include the management of women with menstrual disorders, as well as pelvic pain and problems with the cervix, such as abnormal smears. Her ‘one-stop' clinic is geared towards the treatment and investigation of these problems, with the intention of minimising the number of visits necessary. She is also interested in the academic side of Gynaecology, regularly attending academic conferences. She is actively involved in the training and education of nurses, GPs and junior doctors.

Felt dismissive, rushed and slightly cold. Didn’t discuss areas which I felt I needed to discuss. I left with more questions than answers. I did not feel reassured that my issues were taken at all seriously. This was more disappointing with me choosing to see a female doctor who deals in female issues. I strongly believe that the NHS would have provided me a much better service, I never thought I would say this. Slightly irritated that I decided to travel 2 and a half hours to see someone for 5 minutes for poor quality service. I’m not sure I will use Spire Manchester Hospital in future.
