About Ms Sonia Chachan
Ms Sonia Chachan is a Consultant Gynaecologist. She practices privately at the Spire, manchester and for the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital.
She first trained in India, at the University of Calcutta, and underwent further specialist training in the United Kingdom. She has a wide general scope within gynaecology, and holds a lead role for hysteroscopy and colposcopy within the department at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Ms Chachan's special clinical interests include the management of women with menstrual disorders, as well as pelvic pain and problems with the cervix, such as abnormal smears. Her ‘one-stop' clinic is geared towards the treatment and investigation of these problems, with the intention of minimising the number of visits necessary. She is also interested in the academic side of Gynaecology, regularly attending academic conferences. She is actively involved in the training and education of nurses, GPs and junior doctors.

My symptoms were all taken seriously after years of being dismissed elsewhere and whilst an exact diagnosis wasn’t possible, additional options were still explored to try and get me closer to some answers.
Dr. Chachan explained every question I had thoroughly and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend her.
I had a consultation and an internal ultrasound with Dr Chachan, and she was incredibly kind, gentle, and reassuring throughout. She made me feel completely at ease and even brought some humour into the appointment, which really helped and made the experience much more comfortable. She is clearly very skilled and knowledgeable, and I felt I was in excellent hands. I would 100% recommend her.
Dr Sonia Chachan is very empathetic which is important for us women who sometimes suffer in silence for so long. She listens attentively and then comes up with a range of options that will be best for you. With you having the control to decide which route you would like to take. I would highly recommend her for your gynaecology issues/needs.
