After my post-MBBS specialist MRCOG (progressing to FRCOG in 1990's) and subspecialist training over 10years in London and a PhD from University of London, I came to St James's Hospital Leeds as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 1991.
In the first 10years, I established, developed and supervised the Reproductive Medicine, Surgery and Assisted Conception services as the Lead Clinician and HFEA Person Responsible between 1991-2010 and remained the HFEA Person Responsible in Leeds Centre for Reproductive Medicine (now Leeds Fertility) between 2010-2017 until I retired form the NHS in 2017. In 2005, the demands of my sub-specialty meant that I had to give up antenatal management and labour ward duties but have continued to manage the early pregnancy or first trimester of pregnancy issues.
Professionally, my ethos has always been to provide evidence based care with awareness of the latest developments and medical controversies, never to dictate but to allow patient empowerment for Informed Consent, to allow time for reflection and consideration, to always act within my expertise and to refer to allied specialists when necessary with patient safety and confidentiality as a foremost requirement. My practice has always received commendations from both within and outside the sphere of my peers and regulators.
Apart from professional qualifications, I have gratefully received the following civic rewards, Honorary PhD form Leeds Metropolitan University, and Yorkshire Woman of the Year. I have also served as an Independent Member on the Board of Governors at the Leeds Metropolitan University for 10years.

Ph.D (University of London): 1995; FRCOG: Royal College of Obstetricians Gynaecologists 1997; MRCOG: Royal College of Obstetricians Gynaecologists 1982; DCH: Royal College of Physicians, London 1979; MBBS: Kurukshetra University, India 1976 (8 Medals; Best graduate)
After completing my junior training in various London hospitals, middle grade onwards in Kings College & Royal London between 1976-1991, I completed research and PhD at Kings College Hospital before I was appointed as a Consultant Obs & Gyn in The Leeds Teaching Hospitals. I have practised privately since then at the Spire (previously BUPA) Leeds Hospital.
In addition to a busy benign Gynaecology and Obstetric practice from 1991, I established, developed and supervised the Reproductive Medicine, Surgery and Assisted Conception services as the Lead Clinician and HFEA Person Responsible between 1991-2010 and remained the HFEA Person Responsible in Leeds Centre for Reproductive Medicine (now Leeds Fertility) between 2010-2017 until I retired form the NHS in 2017. In furtherance of science, I conducted and participated in numerous clinical trials and research studies, trained my juniors in surgery, assisted conception & reproductive medicine and have published 80 peer reviewed articles and 00's of abstracts and posters in international meetings.
In 2005, the demands of my sub-specialty meant that I had to give up antenatal management and labour ward duties but have continued to manage the early pregnancy or first trimester of pregnancy issues. Investigating and treating recurrent miscarriage remains part of my core work.
Apart from professional qualifications, I have gratefully received the following civic rewards, Honorary PhD form Leeds Metropolitan University, and Yorkshire Woman of the Year. I have also served as an Independent Member on the Board of Governors at the Leeds Metropolitan University for 10years.
