Mr Steven Lau is a Consultant in Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery appointed as Consultant Spinal Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in 2012 and currently works as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at the William Harvey Hospital. At Benenden Hospital, Mr Lau provides outpatient consultations for degenerative spinal conditions, back pain, disc herniations and stenosis, spinal injections for back pain and sciatica, radiofrequency denervation and discectomy.
Mr Lau graduated from Edinburgh Medical School with first class honours in an intercalated degree. His surgical training took place in Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, St Bartholomew's, Guy's and St Thomas' and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals, before being appointed as a trauma fellow at the Royal London Hospital and completing his higher surgical training on the South East Thames rotation, gaining his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2010. His interest in spinal surgery developed early during his surgical training and he has worked in the spinal units at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, Guys and St. Thomas' Hospital and the Evelina Unit.
