Mr Seb Sturridge

Seb was great at explaining the planned procedure and explaining the findings from x-rays and MRIs. Every step of the process was carefully explained and any questions were answered thoroughly with images and diagrams to explain what’s happening. After my hip surgery, due to hip impingement, flexibility has been restored and discomfort from just sitting has gone away on the operated side.

The experience will Mr. Sturridge was excellent - finally a consultant you can talk to and with a sense of humour! Excellent explanation of diagnosis and what to expect before the operation. Maybe needs a bit more explanation of what to expect in the first few days after the operation. While in the longer term the new hip will make a wonderful different, immediately after the operation you are not going to feel so great.

My initial consultation with Mr Seb Sturridge was straightforward and informative. He confirmed I needed a complete left hip replacement, which was daunting, but he explained everything succinctly and understandable for a non medical person. I was able to get a surgery appointment at Clare Park, my preferred hospital, in just over 3 weeks. On the day I was taken to my room quickly and the nursing staff were efficient and friendly. Had my surgery in the morning and was given suitable pain relief. Next day, a Physiotherapist visited me and I walked and managed stairs with crutches. In the afternoon Mr Sturridge popped in and checked I was able to do simple exercises and I was discharged later. By the end of week 1, I was walking with one crutch and by week 3 needed no walking aid. Had my post op appointment at 7 weeks and Mr Sturridge tested movements of my hip, checked on the scar, showed me the X-rays taken earlier and confirmed the surgery had been successful. The whole experience was relatively stress free and thankfully I had an amazing surgeon in Seb Sturridge.

I was under the care of Seb Sturridge and the team at Mount Alvernia Hospital through my full knee replacement consultations, prep, procedure and rehabilitation. I was enormously impressed with the levels of care, communication and connection. It made a difficult and major operation, as manageable as I can imagine.

I am an 83 year old lady and was a little apprehensive at having a Total Hip Replacement. At my first consultation Mr Sturridge reassured me and gave me the confidence to proceed. The operation was a complete success and I was soon home and free of the awful pain I had put up with for almost two years. At 8 weeks post op I had an x-ray and consultation with Mr Sturridge and was able to thank him for his skill in giving me a new lease of life and for the wonderful care I had received at all times. I would highly recommend Mr Sturridge to anyone of any age who is considering having a Total Hip Replacement.

Only uncomfortable situation was on first visit to toilet to move bowels after op.
