With a career spanning clinical surgery and academic research, Mr Jamdar specialises in the surgical management of conditions involving the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary tract. His practice also encompasses abdominal hernia surgery, with a particular interest in minimally invasive approaches, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
His route into specialist surgery began at the University of Manchester, where he graduated in 1999 and developed his longstanding interest in surgical medicine. Most of his subsequent training took place across the North West of England, providing him with a broad foundation in general surgery while allowing him to progressively concentrate on hepatobiliary and pancreatic conditions. His experience during this period also gave him insight into the wider physical and personal impact that these diseases can have on patients.
He later undertook an advanced fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge within its HPB and Liver Transplant Unit. This provided further specialist training in complex liver and pancreatic procedures and helped shape his current area of clinical expertise.
Today, Mr Jamdar combines specialist surgical knowledge with a strong focus on modern, patient-centred care. He incorporates Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) principles into his practice, using this evidence-based approach to support patients throughout their surgical journey and recovery. His operative interests include advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery alongside abdominal wall and hernia repair.
Academic work has been a consistent feature of his career. While serving as a surgical registrar, he undertook an MD at the University of Manchester, researching within the field of surgery. He has subsequently been involved in a wide range of research projects covering hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gallbladder and hernia surgery.
By combining research with day-to-day surgical practice, Mr Jamdar continues to contribute to the development of contemporary surgical techniques. His professional focus remains on refining treatment approaches, improving surgical outcomes and ensuring patients receive high-quality care throughout their treatment and recovery.
