Mr Ryan Trickett is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hand and Wrist surgery. His NHS practice is split between the Major Trauma Centre at University Hospital of Wales, the Children's Hospital for Wales, and University Hospital Llandough.
He has expertise in hand and wrist joint replacement, Dupuytren's disease, carpal tunnel and pother nerve problems as well as sporting injuries.
Mr Trickett treats a wide range of hand and wrist conditions conditions including wrist, finger and thumb arthritis, ligament injuries, and nerve and tendon problems.
His private practice is based in Nuffield Hospitals in the Vale and Cardiff Bay, as well as operating priveleges in Spire Cardiff.
He has published many peer reviewed papers, book chapters and appeared puiblic facing media such as Good Housekeeping and Radio 4.

Mr Trickett completed his medical degree and undergraduate medical sciences training at the University of Wales College of Medicine before undertaking higher specialist orthopaedic training throughout Wales. He later completed national fellowships in hand and wrist surgery in Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham as well as a second fellowship at the world renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre, gaining experience in advanced techniques in wrist fracture treatment, reconstruction and joint replacement in the hand and wrist.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). He also sits of the BSSH Council having a role in the development and direction of hand surgery in the UK. He has a keen interest in education teaching on courses throughout the UK for trainee surgeons as well as junior consultants.

Ryan was helpful, clear, approachable and an excellent surgeon. He fitted a thumb joint replacement on a tricky joint perfectly and it works beautifully and is pain free. And on top of that he's a lovely guy.
