About Mr Simon Phillips

Mr Simon Phillips is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon who has worked full-time in the NHS since 2009, managing a broad range of abdominal and colorectal conditions.

He studied medicine and completed surgical training at the universities of University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, followed by general surgical training in London. After specialist registration, he completed advanced colorectal training at St Mark's Hospital, a national referral centre for complex bowel disorders. He also completed laparoscopic surgical training in Bristol.

His clinical practice includes the assessment and surgical management of colorectal and general abdominal conditions. This includes common conditions such as haemorrhoids and hernias, as well as complex anorectal disease, fistula, and bowel involvement in conditions such as endometriosis. He also performs laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, gallstone disease, and abdominal hernias.

Mr Phillips has a specialist interest in pelvic floor disorders, prolapse, and stapled procedures for haemorrhoidal disease and disorders of defecation.

His academic work includes research on immune mechanisms in colorectal cancer, leading to a Doctorate awarded by the University of Oxford.
