About Mr Roger Humphry

Mr R Humphry MD D.O. FRCOphth FRCS qualified at St Barts Hospital London. He trained in Ophthalmology in London, Bristol and San Francisco


He holds a Consultant Ophthalmologist post in Salisbury. He is a qualified General Ophthalmologist with special interests in Small-Incision Cataract Surgery, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Squint surgery.


He has been a council member of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and Secretary to the Royal Society of Medicine. He is a member of The British Medical Association.


He is a member, and has presented, at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).


He has been Lead Clinician in Ophthalmology and has been Chairman of the Salisbury Medical Society. He has been an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is a representative on the British Standard Institute (BSI) for Optics and Intra-Ocular Lenses. He is UK representative and examiner on the European Board of Ophthalmology and a reviewer for various Ophthalmology Journals.


His MD Thesis was on Cataract Surgery and he has produced and given a number of National and International papers on this and related topics.


Mr Humphry has a great interest in assisting Ophthalmology in the Developing World. He is Honorary Ophthalmic Surgeon to the charity 'Eyes for East Africa' and spends several weeks a year working in Kenya.


He is a keen musician and plays Saxophone in the Salisbury Big Band.
