Mr Rob Gornall

Mr Robert Gornall is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust and also sees patients privately at Nuffield Hospitals in Cheltenham and Hereford. In addition to treating many common gynaecological conditions, he has a special interest in the investigation and treatment of possible uterine and ovarian tumours. Mr Gornall is also one of the most experienced surgeons, undertaking total laparoscopic hysterectomy and along with some 150 national specialists, is formally accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to undertake complex gynaecological surgery. He also undertakes regular clinics investigating menstrual disorders and pelvic pain.

He is also a trained colposcopist and investigates abnormal cervical smears and pre-cancer changes. He also has an active interest in research – he completed original research into the genetic causes of ovarian and breast cancer for which he gained a DM and also into early recognition of symptoms suspicious for cancer in primary care, gaining Cancer Research UK funding. He is also currently undertaking a research project using Raman spectroscopy into vulval disease as part of a Gloucestershire team.
