Dr Jo Bailey is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with specialist expertise in gynaecological cancer and advanced pelvic surgery. She qualified with an MB ChB from the University of Glasgow in 1993 and went on to achieve FRCS (Ed) in 1997, followed by MRCOG from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1999.
After completing her general gynaecology training in Newcastle, Dr Bailey moved to Bristol to undertake RCOG subspecialty training in gynaecological cancer treatment. She is an accredited colposcopist and has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of precancerous conditions, inherited cancer risk, and complex gynaecological cancers.
Dr Bailey has particular expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, ovarian cyst management, and complex abdominal and pelvic procedures. She also treats a wide range of conditions including menstrual disorders and vulval problems, providing personalised and compassionate care.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Bailey is passionate about education and serves as Vice Chair of the RCOG Subspecialty Training Committee. She is also a member of the Medical Advisory Board of VJJ Health, supporting improved awareness and treatment of vaginal health conditions.
