Mr Pratik Shah

Pratik Shah is a highly experienced gynaecologist having been a consultant for 20 years after qualifying from London University in 1985. He is currently a consultant at the RFH NHS trust and also the clinical lead for the Barnet and Enfield community gynaecology services. He is also the undergraduate tutor for UCLH students which is enjoys.

His particular interest is the management of abnormal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, prolapse and menopause management. He is particularly skilled in ‘keyhole' surgery and does many procedures in the outpatient setting reducing the need for general anaesthesia. He is also an accredited colposcopist and sees women with abnormal smears and cervix abnormalities.

Outside of work he likes the outdoors and enjoys hill walking his best achievement to date being going up Kilimanjaro and doing the coast to coast walk along Hadrians walk in 4 days. He also loves swimming (being born in Mombasa near the Indian ocean helps!) and relaxes with gentle Yoga and meditation.

He has been married to Jagruti for over 34 years and has three daughters all of whom have followed him in the medical profession and two grandchildren. Very much a family man he looks after his mother in her late 80's and her aunt in her 90's and until recently had all three daughters living with him as well. With all these women in the house his waistline needs constant attention which he manages with his addiction to spinning.

His main ethos is to continue enjoying his work and family, do the best he can for his patients and never stop learning from others.
