About Mr Neil Harris

Mr Neil Harris is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, which is one of the largest Trusts in the UK. He also consults privately at the Spire Leeds Hospital and the Leeds Nuffield Hospital, which are the two private hospitals serving patients in Leeds and surrounding areas.

Neil graduated in medicine (MBChB) from the University of Leeds in 1995. He was a junior surgical trainee in the Army and served as Regimental Medical Officer to The Light Dragoons, where he served on operational tours in Northern Ireland and Bosnia. After leaving the Army he completed his research degree (MD) and was appointed as a Specialist Registrar (trainee) in urology in 2001, where he was trained in general urology and developed his interests in female and reconstructive urology, urinary incontinence, and management of complex lower urinary tract conditions. He completed his urological and fellowship training in the UK and USA and was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Leeds in 2008.

Neil treats patients with all types of general urological conditions and has a specialty practice in female and reconstructive urology. He has particular experience and expertise in the management of urinary incontinence (in men and women), prostate and bladder diseases, urinary tract infections (UTIs), bladder pain and interstitial cystitis.

Neil has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has made over 30 presentations at national and international scientific meetings. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and the European Association of Urology (EAU).

Clinical appointments are conducted in a relaxed, but professional, environment. Neil will outline the most up-to-date medical and surgical treatments that are available, whereupon patients will have the opportunity to discuss potential risks and alternative treatments. In complicated or unusual cases, he will seek the opinion of other professional colleagues. The patient's dignity and privacy will be respected at all times.
