Clinical Interests:
General ophthalmology, small incision phacoemulsification refractive cataract surgery. Medical retina disease (including diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusions, intravitreal injections of Lucentis, Avastin Ozurdex). External eye and corneal disorders, lacrimal surgery for watery eyes including endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy and dacryoplasty (balloon dilatation of tear duct).
Academic Background:
Mr Michael Toma is a general ophthalmologist with a special interest in cateract surgery. He has performed over 10,000 procedures to date. He also has expertise in treatment of retinal disease, watery eyes and external eye disease. Mr Toma was trained on the North London Deanery rotation and served a fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Corneal and External eye disease.He was appointed as Consultant Opthalmologist at Queen Elizabeth II Hopsital in 1996 and is presently Clinical Director for the Eye department at Queen Elizabeth II hospital.
