Mr Michael Dooley

Professor Michael Dooley is a Consultant Gynaecologist with over 30 years of clinical experience in Gynaecology. He is based in London and sees patients privately at the following locations:

• Chelsea Outpatient Centre
• King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes
• Lister Hospital

Professor Dooley is the Medical Director of The Poundbury Clinic in Dorchester.  At the Lister Hospital, Professor Dooley helped to establish The Lister Fertility Unit and continues to provide his patients with high quality satellite IVF and infertility services through personalised care packages.

Professor Dooley qualified in medicine at Imperial College Hospital , University of London in 1980, subsequently undertaking postgraduate training in centres across Ireland, Oxford and London. He also completed a Fellowship with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) as well as a fellowship with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health at the RCOG. His postgraduate thesis surrounded premenstrual syndrome and hormone measurements. He has also completed research surrounding menopause and hormonal changes during exercise.

Professor Dooley previously held the position of President of The Section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Society of Medicine and was also a Council Member and Treasurer of The College of Medicine.

In his current posts, Professor Dooley provides patient-centred healthcare using the most appropriate evidence-based, complementary medicine. Alongside female fertility, he has special interests in menopause, irregular period, menstrual problems, pre-menstrual syndrome, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). He also has particular interest in gynaecological problems associated with sport. Professor Dooley was the lead Gynaecologist at The London 2012 Olympics for Team GB and is now a member of the International Olympic Committee on Exercise and Pregnancy.
