About Mr Manar Malki

Consultant Urologist, London & Surrey | Robotic Kidney Surgery . Kidney Stones . Prostate Disease Specialist

About Me

I am a Consultant Urologist based in London and Surrey, dedicated to providing world-class, patient-focused care across London, Surrey, and Berkshire. My philosophy is built on clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring you receive a swift diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to your lifestyle — whether you are seeking a first private opinion or a complex referral. I receive national and international referrals for complex kidney cancer surgery and benign kidney reconstruction (pyeloplasty), and welcome patients referred from other centres across the UK and abroad.

I am a high-volume robotic surgeon and one of the UK's leading practitioners of da Vinci robotic kidney surgery — one of the highest volumes in the UK.  My practice is centered on three specialist areas:

  • Stone Disease: Advanced kidney stone treatment using laser stone surgery (Ureteroscopy / flexible ureteroscopy) with the latest suction sheath technology for maximum safety and stone clearence.
  • Robotic Kidney Surgery: Specialising in kidney cancer (renal cancer) and benign conditions including pyeloplasty. I pioneered the retroperitoneal robotic approach for radical nephroureterectomy using the da Vinci XI system — a technically demanding procedure for upper tract urothelial cancers — achieving superior patient outcomes and significantly shorter length of hospital stay compared to conventional approaches. I apply the same retroperitoneal technique across all my kidney procedures (Radical nephrectomy and Parital Nephrectomy), accessing the kidney from behind rather than through the abdominal cavity to minimise pain, reduce bowel complications, and speed recovery.
  • Men's health & Prostate Care: Offering the latest minimally invasive treatments for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), including Aquablation therapy, Rezūm water vapour therapy, and TURP. I also run dedicated haematuria (blood in urine) clinics and offer video consultations for follow-up care.

Expertise highlights

  • Robotic experience: Certified Proctor for leading robotic platforms, mentoring Consultant Urologists across the UK and Europe.
  • Specialist Approach: Routine use of the retroperitoneal approach for complex kidney cases.
  • Cancer Leadership: Cancer Lead for Urology and Chair of the Renal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Surrey.
  • Surgical Innovation: Pioneer of the retroperitoneal approach for robotic radical nephroureterectomy using the da Vinci XI, delivering better outcomes and shorter hospital stay.
  • Research: Named Investigator on national and international clinical research studies including kidney cancer trials, stone disease studies, and a bladder cancer trial.
  • International Referrals: Receives national and international referrals for complex kidney cancer surgery

Clinical interests

  • Kidney Stones: Laser stone fragmentation, flexible ureteroscopy, and stone prevention.
  • BPH & Prostate Surgery: Aquablation, Rezūm water vapour therapy, and TURP.
  • Kidney Cancer (Renal Cancer): Diagnosis, multidisciplinary management, robotic partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, and radical nephroureterectomy.
  • Robotic Surgery: Robotic partial nephrectomy (kidney-sparing cancer surgery), robotic radical nephroureterectomy (da Vinci XI, retroperitoneal), and robotic pyeloplasty.
  • Haematuria Clinics: Fast-track investigation for blood in urine.
  • General Urology: UTIs, Men's Health, and prostate cancer diagnostics

Training & Experience

Following specialist training in the East Midlands, I refined my expertise in complex stone disease at the prestigious Nottingham University Hospitals stone unit. I then completed a Royal College of Surgeons accredited Robotic Fellowship in kidney cancer surgery at Frimley Park Hospital—an international center of excellence for robotic kidney surgery.

I currently serve as a Consultant Urologist and Cancer Lead for Urology at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Surrey, where I hold Named Investigator status on research studies, lead the Renal Cancer MDT, and maintain audited surgical outcomes that consistently meet the highest national benchmarks. I see private patients at Welbeck clinic (1 Welbeck Street, Marylebone), The London Clinic (Devonshire Place), Spire Dunedin Hospital (Reading), Spire Clare Park Hospital (Farnham and Guildford), The Princess Margaret Hospital (Windsor), and Heatherwood Hospital (Ascot).

Mr Malki has been a brilliant Consultant Urologist to me during the last few months. The last few months have been quite stressful but Mr Malki has been clear, concise, friendly, and very informative during my initial consultations, MRI, biopsy procedure, and follow up consultation. The Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor is also a very good place to be treated.

It was valuable to be able to talk honestly and openly about my situation. We talked about reality and practicality and I was clear from the advice given about the options available to me. I was left with an open door to make contact if I had any issues or concerns.
