Mr Khaled Dawas

Khaled Dawas a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Upper GI Surgery. He is the Director of GI Surgery and Head of the regional Upper GI Surgery Service based at University College London Hospitals as well as an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. Mr Dawas sees private patients at the Lister Hospital, the Princess Grace Hospital and the Harley Street Clinic.

Mr Dawas qualified in medicine at the University of Cambridge in 1994. He completed his training in general surgery in centres across London and Oxford, subsequently completed his subspecialty training in Upper GI Surgery in Oxford, Birmingham and Australia. During his time in Australia, Mr Dawas also completed a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery in Perth. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2009.

Since 2009, Mr Dawas has contributed to and improved the Upper GI services at the University College London Hospitals and is now one of the largest units in the UK.

Mr Dawas has special interests in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of stomach and oesophageal cancer in addition to hiatus hernia surgery and acid reflux surgery. He has specialist expertise in the use of both laparoscopic and open surgery for the management of gallstones and hernias. He also has expertise in endoscopic procedures including percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG). Mr Dawas has built a large experience working with other specialists such as gynaecologists and ENT surgeons to help with surgery for advanced ovarian and head and neck cancers.

In addition to his exceptional clinical practice, Mr Dawas is an experienced teacher and mentor. He holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor at University College London and regularly teaches medical students as well as supervisimg surgical trainees.

In his private practice, he prides himself in ensuring that all his patients' questions are answered. He believes in tailoring treatment plans to suit the needs and concerns of each patient. His aim is to provide his patients with as much information as they need to help them make informed decisions regarding their treatment.
