Mr John Quarmby

Mr. John Quarmby is a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialty interest in vascular surgery, and subspecialty interest in paediatric surgery. His expertise encompasses a range of conditions, including venous disease, thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis, and surgery for thoracic outlet compression syndrome. Additionally, he regularly performs procedures such as minor skin lesion excisions and hernia surgeries.

Mr. Quarmby graduated from St. George's Hospital Medical School in 1987, and his surgical training in general surgery took place at prominent London teaching hospitals and across the South West Thames region. Throughout his career, his primary subspecialty interest has been vascular surgery, with a minor focus on paediatric surgery.

Since his appointment to Derby Hospitals in 2002, Mr. Quarmby has taken on several key leadership roles. He serves as the Vascular Surgical Lead, representing Derby in the organisation of vascular services across Derbyshire. He is also the Clinical Director of the Derbyshire County Aneurysm Screening Programme, which is part of the National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme.

Mr. Quarmby is available to consult with patients for a variety of conditions, including arterial and venous disease, varicose veins, hyperhidrosis, thoracic outlet compression syndrome, mesenteric ischemia, and general surgical concerns such as abdominal hernias, lumps and bumps, and ingrown toenails.
