Mr Ian Beckingham

Clinical Interests:

Ian trained in Nottingham, Newcastle,Birmingham, Hull, Leeds and Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town. He set up the HPB Cancer centre in Nottingham and was lead Clinician for the Trent HPB Surgical Unit, Chairman of the Mid Trent HPB Cancer Centre and lead for the Minimal Access Training Organization (MAeSTRO). He was Past-President of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons, Council Member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and BOMSS, and a Royal College of Surgeons Laparoscopic trainer. His clinical interests include Laparoscopic HPB, Benign Upper GI surgery and Hernia surgery and he has published over 100 scientific papers on these subjects. He is a regular invited speaker at National and International Surgery meetings.  He is Lead clinician for the RCS acute gallstone management QI improvement programs and is currently Chair of the UGI2021 International Confernece in Belfast. He has perfomred over 5000 Gallbladder opeartions and over 6000 hernia precedures - over 95% laparosocpic (Keyhole). He is a lead for the new AUGIS Safety in gallbladder surgery project.
