I am a consultant laparoscopic UGI & Hepatobiliary surgeon. My current practice covers a wide range of problems, including issues with the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder, and pancreas. I have a particular interest in anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication), diaphragmatic hernia surgery, and laparoscopic cholecystectomy including bile duct exploration. I also offer diagnostic UGI endoscopy and specialize in laparoscopic management of inguinal, epigastric, umbilical, ventral, and incisional hernia surgery.
I studied medicine in Mumbai, India and qualified as a surgeon in 1994. Following FRCS in 1996, I began training in the UK. In 1999, I joined the Royal Free Hospital Liver Unit to train in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation, and registered for a postgraduate research degree from University College London. I joined the Northeast London surgical training scheme for General Surgery in 2004, and acquired specialist training in UGI and hepatobiliary surgery, working in various liver units in the region including Barts & The London and Royal Free.
Upon completion of my training in 2009, I joined Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge for further specialist training in laparoscopic hepatobiliary surgery . I was awarded the MD (research) degree from University College London for my thesis titled 'Therapeutic Modulation Of Liver Ischaemia Reperfusion Injury'.
I am currently working as consultant UGI, Hepatobiliary & laparoscopic surgeon at Ealing and London Northwest Healthcare Trust. I have been awarded clinical excellence awards in my current job. I have also been appointed as the Surgical Tutor for the trust and Clinical lead for the department of surgery at Ealing site.

Dr. Osama Moussa
General Surgeon"I have worked closely with Hemant for many years and can confidently say he is one of the most reliable general surgeons I know. He possesses a deep fund of surgical knowledge and a technical precision that is second to none. What truly sets Hemant apart, however, is his approachability. Despite the high-pressure environment of the OR, he remains a calm, helpful, and supportive colleague who is always willing to mentor others and advocate for his patients’ best interests.
