About Mr Giuseppe Sforza
Mr Giuseppe Sforza, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, currently works in London at the Fortius Clinic and in Reading at the Circle Reading Hospital and Berkshire Independent Hospital. He has extensive experience in treating and operating on shoulders and elbows, wrist and hands.
Mr Sforza began his medical education in Italy, graduating from the University of Bari in 1992. Following this, he stayed at the same university to undertake his basic surgical training and specialist orthopaedic training. He undertook several periods of training abroad at institutions like the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute Los Angeles in the United States. He was later appointed consultant in Italy, holding the position of Head of the shoulder and elbow unit. He was also a regular attendee of the Mayo Clinic in the US, being actively involved in research and teaching courses (Teach the Elbow Teachers). He finally move to the UK in 2004, where he joined the Reading Shoulder Unit. Following this, he was appointed to Consultant in the Worchester NHS Trust. In 2013 he undertook a Masters in Hand and Wrist Surgery at the University of Milan.
Mr Sforza remains an active researcher with over 200 presentation in National and International meetings and over 35 peer reviewed publications in medical journals and regular invites to present his findings around the world. He has also written several chapters on shoulder surgery. He also actively engages in teaching, organising several courses on shoulder surgery techniques like arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist, shoulder arthroplasty and rehabilitation of shoulders, elbows, wrist and hand pathologies.

Very professional and effective surgery and experience!
I saw Mr Sforza for a frozen shoulder after the stages of the NHS referral times were explained to me at my initial GP (physiotherapist) appointment. During my first visit and afer investigations Mr Sforza was able to offer me a steroid injection and clearly explained every step & possible outcome. Unfortunately the injection didn't resolve the problem and after further discussions I opted for surgery. The surgery recovery was much less painful than I imagined and included intense physiotherapy which I did religiously. The outcome has been amazing. Just a few weeks post surgery I had an incredible range of movement, and 4 months post surgery I have been discharged with a full range of movement and no pain. I couldn't be happier and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr Sforza if you have shoulder issues.
Dr Sforza is really professional and friendly making you feel at ease straight away. As a patient with a shoulder injury I was respected and heard with clear communication and clarity whilst describing diagnosis, procedures and treatment. There is always a friendly attitude from the entire staff and his secretary. With the care I received, I would recommend Mr Sforza.
Mr Sforza was very efficient and clear about what needed to be done with regards to my injury.
Mr Sforza was a great practitioner and we agreed that he would write me a referral for Physiolistic for Shock Wave Therapy. I never received the referral - I did receive the bill for my appointment though!
