As a surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacements, I help people to understand what causes joint pain, and how to prevent surgery by staying healthy. As a hip surgeon who gets hip pain myself I write about the evidence based actions that have helped me to do more with less pain. 

With over 14 years of experience as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon, my main specialist interest is Primary and Revision Hip & Knee Replacement. 

My medical device review work follows on from journal and national review work, and a master’s degree thesis that forms part of a strong portfolio of published research. That combination provides with a deep understanding of what works and what doesn't work.

At the start of the millennium my surgical training took me to Australia, South Africa and on to the South West Peninsular Higher Surgical programme, an AO trauma fellowship in Seattle, six months at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and a 12-month lower limb arthroplasty fellowship in Vancouver. 

Current member of British Orthopaedic Association (17059), British Hip Society (10402) and Girdlestone Orthopaedic Society.

Outside of work I’m a keen runner and cyclist and enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer while spending time with friends and family.
